Southern Care offers it's staff a regular on-going programme of training to develop skills, maintain standards, staff motivation and sense of being valued. The development of existing and future staff is one of southern care's primary values and as such frequent quality training is one of our priority undertakings in employing and maintaining a balanced staff team.
The induction of staff into Southern Care Ltd is intended to provide the basic building blocks for good and safe practice and aims to offer a sound foundation upon which to extend and deepen an individual's level of knowledge and skill.
New staff will receive an induction package and on completion a plan is formulated and tailored to suit individual experience, ability and future training needs. In consultation with the Home's Manager, staff member and training co-ordinator, the induction period is carefully programmed to Children's Workforce Development Council (CWDC) standard and implemented under close supervision.
Staff undertake basic training in First Aid, Health & Safety, Food Hygiene, Fire Safety and Child Protection during or as close as is possible to their induction period.
It is a requirement of Southern Care that all staff members are sponsored to undertake NVQ Level 3 Caring for Children & Young People. On achieving this formal qualification staff are offered the opportunity to undertake NVQ Level 4 Care Management, A1 Assessors Award or Registered Manager Award.
Senior Management attend seminars, conferences and training courses, which relate to their job, employees and the young people in our care. All staff are kept informed of training opportunities and receive the same opportunity to undertake specific areas of training and self development.
