Food and Diet
Southern Care will work with all young people in providing a balanced and healthy diet. We recognise that diet plays an important part in a young person's culture and religious needs and as such encourage him or her to participate in the weekly planning of meals.

Our homes have policies, procedures and guidelines relating to the provision and preparation of food. Training opportunities for staff include Health & Safety and Food Hygiene.
All equipment is maintained, checked and meets the standards required by law. A record is kept of all checks carried out, including those of the local environmental health officer.
Young people are encouraged to participate in menu planning, budgeting, shopping and under supervision cooking meals offering them valuable life skills experience.
