Care and Control
Missing Young People
Due to the age range of the young people in our care it is expected that they will need a certain amount of freedom.
-
Southern Care have built positive working relationships with the local community Police Team in the event of positive of positive responses when individuals are reported as missing
-
Limitations are placed on every young person by means of negotiation.
The young person will be made aware of the action that will be taken
should he or she break the agreement made.
-
Each home has a procedure, which must be followed when a young
person does not return at the agreed time or is absent without
permission.
-
Both staff and young people in our care are aware of our policy and are
expected to abide by the procedure.
-
In all cases if a young person is absent without authority he/she will be
reported to the police as missing. All details will be recorded and
reported to the placing authority, emergency duty team and any relevant
others.
-
The senior member of staff on duty will be informed immediately of a
young person's absence.
-
On return the young person will be received in a positive manner and
given the opportunity to discuss his or her absence and the possible
consequences.
