Police Involvement
Southern Care Ltd. has a specific procedure to follow in all of its homes when involving the police. If a young person's behaviour is so challenging it is putting him/herself at risk or other residents, staff or people in the community or causing substantial damage to property serious consideration will be given to involving the police. No decision to involve the police will be taken without first consulting a senior officer in charge or on call

If a young person is suspected of putting him/herself at risk in the community e.g. prostitution, drug/alcohol misuse the placing authority will be advised and an urgent planning meeting convened to ensure the appropriate action is taken to safeguard the young person's well being. (this may or may not involve police action)

All staff receive training on P.A.C.E. and acting as the appropriate adult when required.
