Values and Aims

Southern Care Values
To provide a caring, safe environment in which young people feel valued whatever their background. To encourage consistently every young person in our care to achieve his or her full potential by offering stability and guidance to lay a firm foundation on which to build a secure future.
Southern Care reconises every child matters and is dedicated in the delivery of its services to meet the priority needs of the children and young people in its care.
Our aims:
  • To promote a culture where young people feel safe and are listened to.
  • To set clear, consistent boundaries and expectations providing young people with a framework within which to take responsibility for their actions.
  • To ensure staff interest in each young person's physical, emotional, religious, spiritual, intellectual and social development.
  • To develop and maintain positive working relationships between staff, the young people, his or her family/carers, social services and other professional agencies.
  • To promote contact with parents/carers in accordance with the young person's care plan and encourage the young person to participate in his or her planning and review procedure.
  • To ensure young people in our care have access to all possible educational opportunities or learning experiences appropriate to their age, understanding and level of attainment and potential.
  • To respect a young person's right to privacy by offering well-maintained single room accommodation to suit individual taste.
  • To ensure each young person has the opportunity to participate in a range of recreational and leisure interests both within the home and in the community.
  • To encourage and support staff sharing responsibility for the young people in our care.
  • To work within the children act 1989, keeping informed of all current child care legislation within the staff training schedule.
  • To provide every possible opportunity for each young person in our care to achieve his or her potential whilst maintaining individual identity for his or her future adult life.
